Ryan Himing
Ryan is an APA Titled Pain Physiotherapist and clinic partner at Maximise Physiotherapy, with advanced training and extensive experience in treating complex pain and long-standing injuries — especially cases that haven’t improved with standard approaches.
Since graduating from La Trobe University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Physiotherapy Practice, Ryan has worked in private musculoskeletal and sports practices, helping hundreds of people recover from both new and persistent conditions.
He joined Maximise Physiotherapy in 2020, where he now mentors other junior clinicians and uses a blend of manual therapy, dry-needling, movement-based rehab, and clear, personalised education to guide patients through their recovery.
Ryan’s passion for helping people with complex pain led him to complete a Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) through the University of Sydney in 2022. This advanced study — combined with years of hands-on experience — saw him awarded the title of APA Pain Physiotherapist by the Australian College of Physiotherapists.
In 2023, Ryan convinced his wife, Lauren, to join the Maximise team, and together they became clinic partners in 2025.
Clinical Interests
Ryan supports people experiencing both acute and persistent pain through thorough assessment, clear communication, and shared decision-making. He works with patients of all ages who want to understand their pain, rebuild confidence, and get back to the activities that matter — whether that’s sport, work, or everyday movement without discomfort. Patients often comment that Ryan makes it easy to understand what’s going on, and that he takes the time to listen, answer questions, and is always willing to go the extra mile to support their recovery.
His specific professional interests include:
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
Persistent low back and neck pain
Post-operative knee rehabilitation
Ryan continues to develop his clinical expertise through ongoing professional education. Recent highlights include:
NOI Group EP3 Pain Conference – Melbourne, 2025
Advanced training in Graded Motor Imagery (GMI)
Mastering lower limb Tendinopathy
Outside of Work
Ryan plays basketball with the Ansett Basketball Club, where his team is chasing a sixth straight Division 1 championship.
He’s also a keen home renovator, and is excited about Darwin’s new bouldering gym — which is quickly becoming his new weekend hangout.
If you ask, he’ll happily tell you all about his Groodle puppy, Howie, and all the tricks he’s currently learning.
Ryan is available for appointments Monday to Friday at our Palmerston Clinic.
